The Sphere in Flux: Anxiety

Things pop into your reality. Things pop out of your reality. The world and the universe in your reality is in a constant flux. Regardless of how big or small our individual reality is, we all notice things that are coming in and going out of our fields of perception. This is what our brain does, all the time. It observes and this awareness lets us communicate with the universe and form our own personal reality.

As much as we like to think that things around us are permanent, they are illusions at best. An illusion is something that appears real but is just a perception, without which it is not really there. It is real as long as there is an observer. Like a reflection in the pond. Illusion is capable of deception against the very observer. You tend to see things as separate from yourself and they are there in the physical dimension, but their representation in your brain is actually your own doing as the observer. If you lose that ability, you lose contact with that thing in the universe. It is not there without you. The illusions seem real only because we are good at attaching ourselves to things: we fail to acknowledge that the observations and moments are temporary and moving representations. Moreover, we are selective with our perception. We reject our observation that pops into our reality when we would rather not like it to come in. We also reject our observation of something leaving our reality when we would prefer it to stay. The things that we have accepted becomes the forgotten background. This typifies ones desire to control their sphere of reality. In trying to do so, we fight against our own illusions and this causes anxiety. We interpret things that go against our will as bad, whereas in a true sense of reality, they are just happenings. Instead of realizing that they are mere happenings, out of our control, we truly believe that they are there to get you. By trying to control our reality, we let the universe harm us.

Lets take an example applicable to the professionals. In a work environment, it is natural for someone to prefer working for one type of supervisor and not for another type. Your mind is already made up due to many factors over time. It is likely that an email from the one you do not like to work with will produce some level of anxiety. It is also likely that no response to your email from the boss you really like will also produce some anxiety. In both of these examples, the illusion of observation in your mind precedes what is actually happening. Both emails instances are highly likely to be neutral but they result in your anxiety, one from something popping into your illusory sphere and one from fading away from your illusory sphere. And, we allow this to happen. However, an astute observer could distinguish the possibility of neutrality vs polarity, a judgement of good or bad.

The mind likes to separate things into black and white and not accept the grey because it is confounding. But the shade of reality is not ours to decide. We are here just to observe. We cannot control what happens in the universe but we can acknowledge that they are happenings and our perceptions of them are not real and permanent. They are changing all the time. Instead of just responding to our own observations and spiralling into anxiety, we can choose to perceive these events as they are, as they unfold from one form to another in our sphere. In the grand scale of things, all things are inherently neutral. By recognizing this, we increase our chances of not getting stuck into the illusions of this matrix and come over our internal battles.
